The commandment of Torah study is a positive Biblical precept. This commandment is defined as one of the most important of the mitzvot, as is written in the Babylonian Talmud (BT): “And the study of Torah is equivalent to them all” ( Shabbat 127a). No experience with Torah study or reading Hebrew is required. While we uncover the meaning of the words in the Torah, we will also explore what the Torah does so well, reflect the human condition. This week's Torah portion is Parashat Achrei Mot-Kedoshim (Leviticus 16:1-20:27).
